Things are now made really difficult for the other MX1 riders because the familia powerful and light 250 SX has been comprehensively technologically overhauled once again. Deliberately robust, with an extremely light frame and optimized running gear, it will even show many four-strokes how it’s done!

CHASSIS

FRAME
Sturdy, oversized, oval lateral tubes make the chromemoly frame one of the most stable and lightweight designs on the market. tough lateral plastic frame guards (in the acesories kit with all SX) now efficiently protect the high-quality powder coating.

FORKS
The fully adjustable 48 mm upside-down forks with „closed cartridge" technology and new star -shaped adjusting knobs at the top, now have a new hydrostop and a completely new seting. That gives even better damping and more sensitive responsiveness. The elegant CNC-milled triple clamps with adjustable offset permit optimum adaptation to riding style and track.

SWINGARM
The superlight cast swingarm was adapted to the bending loads occurring during riding using the latest simulation software. That ensures optimum flexibility, enormous traction and maximum comfort.

SHOCK ABSORBER
An optimised seting of the fully adjustable PDS shock absorber from WP offers more progression and even more reserves under extreme loads.

COOLING
The integrated cooling system leads from the cylinder head through the frame triangle and via a T-piece straight to the coolers.

WHEELS
The latest generation of Excel wheel rims has been furt her weight-reduced and is already first choice when it comes to wheels. CNC-machined hubs with extra-light, self-cleaning, wave shaped brake discs guarantee minimum unsprung masses.

BRAKES
A new floatin g front two-piston brake caliper with new brake master cylinder (reduced piston diameter) improves the application of the front brake and reduces the required hand force. At the rear, a single-piston brake calliper grips the ultra-light, waveshaped brake disc.

HANDLEBAR
The high-quality Renthal handlebar of tapered aluminium with an ergonomically optimised shape can be adjusted to four positions to exactly suit the rider.

SEAT
The seat of the new SX series now has an optimised foam core for improved comfort and even longer service life. In addition, the weight has been reduced by 150 grams.

CHAIN
Regina is the Latin word for „queen" and has been a trademark of quality for many years. The latest SX models have an even stronger chain to better cope with the high performance of the KTM engines.

AIR BOX
The airbox with ample volume provides plenty of power and on the 450 SX-F even has room for the battery. Filter changing without tools as always. The outer contour ensures optimum knee contact.

PLASTICS
All plastics have been designed for optimum ergonomics and maximum freedom of movement. Front fender, starting number plate and chainguard are manufactured in two-component technology. Two different plastic hardnesses in one part ensure particularly high rigidity exactly where it is needed.

TANK
The tank layout ensures optimum ergonomics and the best knee contact with the bike. The ducts under the spoilers form part of the KTM Airflow system with which fresh air is guided to the airbox via openings in the spoilers.The fuel tank cap with bayonet fitting has an additional twist lock, to prevent unintentional opening, that can be easily unlocked by pressing the orange inner segment.

SPOILERS/GRAPHICS
The new spoilers reduce the width at the front end by more than 10 mm to enhance ergonomics. Manufactured with the latest IN-MOULD technology, a plastic layer over the stickers protects the new col graphics and thus makes them far more durable. The openings at the front of the spoilers serve as air outlets for the coolers and fresh air is drawn into the airbox through the openings at the rear. In addition, all SX bikes will be equipped with additional starting number plates from 2009.

ENGINE

EXHAUST CONTROL

Two supplied springs of different hardness allow the exhaust control and hence the power development of the engine to be tuned towards „soft" or „aggressive", and together with the ignition curve option enables the bike to be very easily adapted to your own riding style.

CLUTCH
The proven Brembo hydraulic clutch system has been designed specially for the engine characteristics of the 250 and impresses with a precise pressure point and optimum application.
