CHASSIS
OVERVIEW
The completely redesigned chassis not only looks like that from the SX bikes, it rides almost like it, namely super agile and light. High-technology and highly attractive apparel harmonise perfectly with new engines and make the new crosser unbeatable winning bikes future professionals.
FRAME
The completely redesigned frames are made partially of profile tubes of very high-quality chrome-molybdenum steel and thus guarantees maximum stability and safety. The ultramodern KTM welding robots ensure the highest precision and optimum production quality. A bolted rear subframe on the 65 SX made of flat aluminium profiles is extremely light and at the same very sturdily dimensioned.
SUSPENSION
The new suspension of the 65 SX with the 35 mm upside-down front forks from Marzocchi and the WP monoshock can be individually adjusted in the rebound and compression damping. With a completely new setting and 20 clicks at the front and 12 clicks for compression and 20 clicks for rebound at the rear, it offers an extremely wide adjustment range for every rider and very different courses.
BRAKES
The brakes of the 65 SX have been further optimised and offer even better braking performance and excellent controllability with the new 4-piston brake calliper at the rear and the new wave-shaped brake discs.
WHEELS
As on the large SX bikes, the new wheels are equipped with super-light black anodised aluminium rims that easily stand up to even the biggest jumps.
WATER COOLING
Two radiators and an optimised cooling circuit with integrated crankcase cooling ensure a more constant temperature control and hence a consistently high performance.
HANDLEBARS
Premium quality from PRO-TAPER for everyone who wants to have their bike under control at all times. The new aluminium handlebar with elegant black anodising and cross-bar and handlebar protector as standard offers optimum ergonomics and very high durability.
FOOT PEGS
New foot pegs of light, fine cast steel ensure reliable contact between rider and bike at all times.
EXHAUST
In order to achieve the optimum performance, completely new exhausts has been developed, which ensure a better rev band and maximum power. On the 65 SX a pressure line leading from the opposite cone of the exhaust pipe to the PCEV of the cylinder controls the opening the power valve.
AIR BOX
The KTM AIRFLOW SYSTEM directs the fresh intake air via ducts between spoiler and tank to the airbox. The Twin-Air air filter under the seat is accessible without the use of tools and can be changed within seconds.
BODY WORK
A race bike doesn‘t only have to look good – more important are good ergonomics and plenty of freedom of movement. That has been perfectly achieved with the new mincycles. The completely new bodywork has been taken directly from the large SX bikes and perfectly adapted to the needs of our young crossers.
SEAT
New seats have been designed for optimum ergonomics and maximum freedom of movement. It offers high comfort and allows the rider to take up any desired riding position.
GRAPHICS
The latest production techniques with in-mould technology for the spoilers mean integrated stickers and a more robust quality. The new cool graphics not only look super, they also last a whole lot longer.
ENGINE
OVERVIEW
Modern engine technology of the highest standard is embodied in the new engine of the 65 SX. A state-ofthe-art design in combination with high-end components such as the KTM Powervalve System raise the standard in the 65 cc class to a level previously unattained with even the most expensive tuning.
ENGINE DESIGN
The target for the new engine was the centralisation of the masses and the maximal power output. Therefore the crankshaft was positioned higher and hence nearer the overall centre of gravity of the bike, that benefits not only the handling. This design also permits a flatter and a more flow-optimised angle of the intake reed block and therefore together with the powervalve a higher performance.
CYLINDER
The heart of the new engine is the completely new cylinder unit with the revolutionary KTM-patented PCEV Powervalv e. The Pressure-Controlled Exhaust Valve provides significantly more torque and opens the exhaust duct only at higher revs for maximum performance.
TRANSMISSION
The 6-speed gearbox with dog clutch perfectly designed meet the demands of this class, has an optimum balance and guarantees precise and reliable shifting in every situation.
CARBURETTOR
A new 24 mm flat slide carburettor from Mikuni ensures even better response and plenty of power.
PERFORMANCE
The exhaust control has enabled the typical two-stroke „flat spot“ at low revs to be completely filled. The advantage: Significantly more torque even at lower revs, and hence a more homogeneous power development, more easily controlled and ultimately more efficient traction.
